Attending a book event with Professor Harkness is awe inspiring. Attending with friends is something you treasure forever. On July 1st, we went to Third Place Books in Seattle (Lake Forest Park), which was the last stop of the Time’s Convert Book Tour. The whole experience was greatly enhanced by the presence of Valerie from Daemons Discuss, Dana, one of the All Souls Con attendees in Cardiff, plus the lovely Wendy and Stephanie, and the amazing Jill. Deborah’s fabulous talk on the journey of the non-linear creative process was livestreamed from her author page on Facebook and we did our best to capture the lively Q&A that came after the live stream. We hope you enjoy it.Continue reading

In addition to A Discovery Of Witches, Wales has been the backdrop for Doctor Who, Sherlock, Harry Potter, and many more TV and movie hits. Gareth Skelding—a.k.a. Gaz—is the location manager for A Discovery Of Witches, and is known for his work on Sherlock, Da Vinci’s Demons, Torchwood and Dr. Who. After you read what Gaz has to say about Wales, you will want to pack your bags and visit this enchanting land. Whether you call it “location scouting” (American English) or “recce” (British English), as a location manager, Gaz is a Wales expert and treasure hunter, and Wales could not ask a better advocate.Continue reading

It had been a little while since Deborah made it to the San Francisco Bay Area for a book tour—last time it was in 2014. This time, we got lucky since Book Passage in Corte Madera, just North of San Francisco, invited her for a book signing. To make the day even more exciting, friends from the All Souls Podcast, Chamomile & Clove, the All Souls Discussion Group, and All Souls Con joined the celebration of Time’s Convert. And a celebration it was! The event marked the 2nd week in the New York Times Best Seller List. At about 7pm, Deborah arrived and immediately started to tell us how Time’s Convert came about, the extensive historical research that went into the development of Time’s Convert, her writing process, and even about the books she read about “vampire development.”
We were very fortunate to be invited to a press roundtable at San Diego Comic Con and got to chat with the effervescent cast and producers of A Discovery Of Witches. But before we meet the witches (and producers), here’s a summary of what was announced at San Diego Comic Con on Thursday, July 19th:
• A Discovery Of Witches will premier on September 14 on Sky One in the UK.
• In the US, it will be available on streaming platforms, Sundance Now and Shudder. Later on Instagram, Sundance Now wrote that the series would air in early 2019.
The producers and cast were the same that had previously spoken during the panel in Hall 20: Deborah Harkness, Lachlan MacKinnon, Teresa Palmer, Alex Kingston, Valarie Pettiford, and Owen Teale.
At first, we wanted to write a review about The World Of All Souls, but had to change plans, because how do write a review about a book you want to hug? Well, it would be awkward, so we decided to list our Top 10 favorite finds.
But first thing first. Who’s this book for? This question is easy to answer. If you fit one of these profiles, The World Of All Souls is for you.
